The coordination of safety at work is now an essential activity in construction, giving technical support to the decision-making processes of the construction site operator and streamlining the action of the various actors, both in the design phase and in the construction phase.
It is up to the owner to appoint a safety coordinator for both phases of the process, who will be responsible for developing various technical tasks, in order to minimize risks and prevent accidents.
In the Design phase
Prior to the construction phase, safety coordination plays a key role in advising the various parties involved in the design phase and validating technical documents, including:
- Inform the Owner of his responsibilities;
- Development and technical validation of the Health and Safety Plan;
- Ensure that the project authors take into account the general principles of accident prevention;
- Collaborate in the preparation of the negotiation process.
